March

Ok, so I am just sad that I wasn't doing this family journal in ACTUAL March.  SO much drama, and too few pics.  So I will just be summing up.

Mon Pediatrician for a weight check,
Tues Visitation, then specialist of some kind.
Wed laundry and school catch up
Thurs Visitation and another specialist
Fri Pediatrician for a weight check.

The baby pretty much cried, or fussed all night, he was gaining 4oz a week, and was skin and bones. The Dr's had me feeding him an oz an hour just to keep his stomach full. . . all day and through the night I was feeding him pretty much constantly.  We did this for one week.
On Sun morning David came out to the couch, and there I was crying, holding a screaming baby, beside myself tired, and he insisted that I take him to the ER something must be wrong!  7am I arrive, they check us in, and this is the beginning of the week from . . . somewhere hot! (And I'm not talkin' Florida!)
After a Ped,  hoard of students dr's, a cardiologist, an infectious disease spec, dietician, and EVERY nurse came to see him, poke and prod him, weigh him, take his blood and stool and urine samples, they admit him. I was there until 8pm that day, but I needed to be at home with my other kiddos, and a husband that has been worn thin as well.  I HATED leaving him there, but with no choice I kissed him, changed his diaper one more time, and left.   I called the hospital must have been ten times that first night, he was still crying, and not gaining weight, but they were sure they would have some answers for us soon.  This continued Sun-Sat of that week.  I would go down to the hospital at night while my hubby was at home with our little ones, and get all kinds of reports from the nurses.  The bio's had been there all day, the bio mom was trying to nurse the baby against a court order.  They were pumping Dr's for information, etc.  YUCK yuck yuck
Finally after a week of hospital dinners and driving home late, they decided that they couldn't get a single test to come back positive, maybe he was just Failure to Thrive.  So, Fri morning I call the hospital, "Yep, he will be ready to go home with you get here!" Fri afternoon, "What time do you think you'll be here so we can have the Dr sign off?" Fri night David and I make plans to meet at the hospital, pick up the baby and go out for a celebratory dinner.  When I get to the hospital I am met by a none too friendly nurse, that informs me, "Since you have been absent for the most of his time here, and the bio parents have been VERY present, we would like to supervise you with the baby for at least twelve hours to make sure that you are not in-appropriate with him."  She says matter of factly, as if it were no big deal to insinuate that I was the cause of him being in the hospital!  I'm still a little upset about it I guess.  ;-)
So dressed in my "going out to eat" clothes, and with no prior notice, I decide to do my 12 hours of supervision overnight.  JUST GET IT OVER WITH!   Course I called my best friend practically in tears I was so angry!  The Guardian Ad Lidum (their lawyer) comes down and meets with the head pediatrician in charge of the ward, and TRIES to explain that as a foster mom I CAN NOT leave my children with anyone else, and that there was NO need for supervision, but the hospital stays firm and I stay overnight.
(FYI this is where I pick up my "Criminal Minds" obsession.  Being watched just totally takes the tired right out of you.  :-D)
They decide to let us come home the next day around noon, and I politely as possible, and greasy from being awake and in the same clothes for two days, take my leave!
That was pretty much the excitement for March.  There were LOTS of Dr's app;s after that.  A fun visit from a special friend and her kiddos. And more Dr's apps. But praise the Lord he brought us through.
