Our Commitment & Project...
This year, KWDTC has chosen to "Go Big" and make a difference in the lives of a Family that epitomizes the KW Culture of "Seek first to understand," and "Do the right thing!"
The Story Family is an extraordinary example of our own WI4C2TS! These two parents have an amazing family of 9, complete with 7 children. Three amazing biological children, joined by one adopted special needs child, and three foster children that wouldn't have a safe, loving place to call home without these special people.
They live in a Ranch style home in Elizabeth. Through one of our contacts here in the Market Center, we have learned more about their successes, their challenges and their struggles. The sole supporter of the family was laid off in this marketplace, and continues to work temporary jobs to ensure that these kids have a safe, loving and supporting home to support their needs, their dreams and their future. This family is constantly working with social workers, therapists, specialists, etc. to help these children "heal" from the physical and emotional scars they carry with them as they trudge forward to build a better life. In addition, they are amazing parents to their own three biological children - challenging them, supporting them and always setting an example of compassion, support and love to others.
This family needs our help. Our passion is helping families find homes that support every hope and dream they have. This family's home could use some support to ensure that these children have every opportunity, every tool and every chance to succeed in spite of the beginning they couldn't control. The home needs "love."
How can you help? In the coming days, you will see a lot of communication about Red Day. You will have an opportunity to volunteer on that day, to purchase items from registries at Target, Home Depot, Lowes, etc., to paint, hang new hardware, to help plant flowers, to help decorate, build a garden, and make a difference.
Between our vendors, donations, volunteer hours, experts and YOU, we will forever change the trajectory of these children, and this family!
