May 22nd Sugar and Spice and...Bratz?

One of the things that we have been learning during this season of "A gob of kids", is intentional parenting.
We have basically three 5yr olds. And three completely different little girls.
Z-1  is in to  Justin "you know who".  Dresses as grown up as we will allow.  Wants to wear make-up and heels.  Her favorite make-believe game is talking on the "phone" to her boyfriend, (who evidently doesn't respect her...)

Abi  is in to Tinkerbell.  Hates, loathes, and despises pants of any kind.  Her favorite music is  anything Veggie Tales. And her favorite game is taking care of her babies, having me babysit my "grandchildren" while she shops.

Then there is Z-2 she likes to box with Trey.  She wears tank tops and baggie shorts. She likes to rap and hates Sunday mornings when she has to wear a dress.

That being said, they are still little girls, and as such there are still some across the board things that David and I are trying to teach.

#1.  To love the Lord, as their creator and Savior.
We read the Bible together, attend church, try to be good examples in our own daily lives.

#2.  Respect for themselves and others.  (this is a toughie)
Part of being respectful is dressing appropriatly.  Not necessarily an easy thing to articulate.
A sweet friend of mine recently peaked my interest in aprons. The last two or three months we have been scouring garage sales and second hands stores for little girl aprons (and some for me. ;-))
The aprons come in really handy when trying to teach our children, (girls in particular) to serve.   At each meal the girls take turns wearing their aprons and serving the food from the kitchen to the table.  It has made each meal a teachable moment.
