Our not so "Secret Garden"

I'm so glad to be posting this blog!
There are some fun pics ahead!

A part of our makeover, we were gifted a garden. A wonderful, fun, "never knew I would pig out on green beans" kind of garden! 😊 Yummm!
With our garden, we were also gifted a Garden Keeper!  We love our Mr John!
There he is in the blue.

They put down their shovels and rakes down long enough to come eat lunch with us a few times.
It was during one of these lunches that we found out he and his wife were living in Nueve Leon, Mexico at the same time my sister and I visited there!  We knew we would be fast friends!
He and his wife also gifted us our dining room table!
It is a beautiful honey color, with the perfect amount of chairs, and we are so so grateful for it!!!

Here we are before.
AFTER!!!
Isn't that a happy, spread out bunch? :-)
Every time we gather around it we think of Mr and Mrs Vansteenburg and their generosity!
You are honorary Story's. ☺

Ok, so back to the garden.

Getting the ground ready!

Putting in some of the fences

All fenced in and ready for some planting.

Here are some of the new little baby plants.

Being watered for the first time.

As if by magic, (6 weeks later) here they are, sending out shoots, and starting to bud.

I had no idea cabbage came from such a huge plant!!!

It makes the best coleslaw though!!!

Another family favorite is squash.

Baked like this, who can resist???

Our poor tomatoes suffered a bit this year.  Too many hot days followed by torrential rains. :-(
The ones that survived were so pretty though!

I made stewed tomatoes and spaghetti sauce!  Canning, it's my new obsession. :-)
Don't those little rows of jars make you happy???
The jars on the right are peach preserves.  Mr John works at the farmers market in all his "free time", and would bring me boxes, or bags of produce!!!

I loved all the bell pepper varieties our Garden Master picked out for us! Purple, green and red!

We even grew these flowers!  (They grow on a bush the size of a small car)  Loved having fresh flowers every day!

Last week they raked up and bagged all the leftover plant material, and then Mr John had a truck load of compost/top soil delivered.  My kids love working with him, and they are so proud as they shovel and wheel-barrow.
Having this garden has been such a sweet blessing!  David and I spent hours admiring the plants, picking green beans and just spending time together.
Isaiah especially loves being outside, and was regularly out with daddy watering.
Keller Williams DTC has given us so much!!!
New friends, this garden, our table, we are forever grateful!

Thank you again and again!

  1. Oh my goodness, your garden in just beautiful. I am so happy for you. Our garden was a no go this year; the grasshoppers were terrible, and ate everything. I am just eating up your gorgeous produce and beautiful garden, and wonderful fixines. That Zucchini bake looks amazing. My stomach is growling. Love all of your canning too. It is all so beautiful. Thanks for sharing.
    Love and Blessings,
    Pam
