A mountain oasis

This summer was hot!!!
Hot like: You wanna wear as little as possible.  Who cares about makeup it will just melt off!  Sleeping without the air conditioning is OUT of the question!  I love you but please, don't sit so close.
 :-P
And I HATE to be hot!!!

A sweet client/friend of David's had a little cabin in Breckebridge, and said we could use it anytime we wanted to!!!  She's so sweet to share, and we loved every minute!!!!
Miss Joan, we made memories that we will always carry with us. Thank you for your generosity!!! I hope these pictures being back memories of you and your children. :-)

Our family loves road trips!  I think we are a bit nomadic by nature.
On the way to the cabin is one of the longest tunnels in North America.
The Eisenhower

Miss Joan was worried that it would be too "rustic" for us she said, maybe just drive up there, stay just one night and see what you think. :-)
Well I can tell you what we thought after that first night.... "We never ever wanted to leave!!!"
The Chalet front
And the back
There's even a fort!
A big one for the big kids!
Teepee style

And the weather!!!! Oh my goodness it was like we could breathe again!!! Cool, crisp air!
Nice wide porch to enjoy, (when it wasn't drizzling).

Here's a few of the inside.

What is better than a secluded cabin in the woods?!?
Friends joining you at that secluded cabin in the woods!!!
Isaiah's grandma and his aunt came up to join us, we had such a good time with them!!!
A fantastic fun thing in Breckenridge is the gondolas!
They are free and so fun! (If you don't mind heights)
I happen to "mind" heights, so I usually rode with Trey who did his best to distract me.
Handsome boys!!
The size of these root-clusters is staggering!!!
At the top of the gondola ride is the ski lodge!  There are slides and bounce houses and ice-cream.
Everything is more fun with Abuela!
When we got back into town Grandma "treated" everyone to hand-squeezed lemon aid!
So much fun!

The next time we went to the cabin some friends from church came up!
Our friend Kristi has 3 kiddos and our broods LOVE eachother!!
Here's my friend Kristi
She even does dishes!!!!
We had a little debacle with the plumbing, and she and stayed up eating dip and waiting for the plumber. :-)
Love you sweet friend!!
The big kids hiked.....
And hiked....
And hiked!
Another favorite was the hammock
Our friend Zachary is a bit of a "ham". ;-)
We have a lot of fun together!!
We brought a pop/mentos fun surprise!
It was a big hit!!!
Really have no idea what they're all looking at here....

And the food we brought....
This was for our "Stay-date". (More about this phenomenon in a later post)
Hamburgers fresh off the grill
Turtle brownies. (We may or may not have made these in the middle of the night and eaten them hot and gooey with a shared glass of milk.)
And chicken salad on croissants!
Our three weekends at the cabin were so special. I wish we could've had time there with each and every family member and friend!

Thank you again Miss Joan for your generosity to our family! We loved your mountain oasis!!
