Feb 19-20 Little family get away

We left off last time with us being late for sledding.  :-)  Late, great Storys.  ;-)  When we finally made it to the top of the hill, the lake was frozen solid, the snow was glistening and it was raining. Beautiful, wet and cold. We went straight to our cabin which I rented sight un seen.  Let me add, I don't recommend renting a cabin this way... If they don't have virtual tours, don't rent!  ;-)   After we unloaded we headed up to my friend's, mom's cabin to feast on chili, cornbread, cookies, and capri suns.  :-)  We had a great time telling stories and letting the kids play.  Back in our cabin it was cold, and loud.  ;-)  My friend had the cabin next to us, so the plan was for her to put the little ones down and then come over to talk and let the big kiddos watch a movie together.  Of course there was a bag of Oreos and chips and dip, all the necessary good time food.  That's when the lights went out.  If you've never been up on a mountain in the middle of a snow storm with no electricity let me tell you, it was dark!  DARK!  The manager lent us a small lantern and Hosanna went to get her little people.  We were gonna stick out out together!   It was a long, cold night, but the next morning we had a big breakfast together, (the electricity came back on in the wee hours of the morning) then they headed home and we headed up the mountain a little further to see the castle!
It was beautiful, and terrifying!  This castle is hand built with no thought of building codes.  The kids had a blast!

  1. Hahaha, seriously, how is he able to build that without getting into any trouble with codes and what-not?!

  2. Would you believe that Paul and I got married there? The man is "different" to be kind but it was a beautful place for a wedding, in the middle of the beautiful trees. The outside walkway makes me sick to my stomach though. Yikes!
